Our Story

Wellby, previously JSC Federal Credit Union, was founded in 1961 as a not-for-profit financial cooperative to support the aerospace innovators of Johnson Space Center and their families. 

We rebranded as Wellby to be more inclusive to our broader membership base that has grown over the past 20 years. Wellby remains strongly connected to Johnson Space Center and stem programs throughout Houston as we always have since our founding in 1961. Our evolution into Wellby came with the desire to serve more members and communities throughout the greater Houston metro area by helping them reach their financial goals as well. 

Our focus will always remain on our members, their needs, and how we can find better ways to be better for future generations. As we continue to expand into new communities throughout Houston, we aim to provide new products and services making it more convenient for our members to manage their daily and future financial needs while staying true to our core mission we started in 1961.
